Christian Education Department

The mission statement of the Christian Education Department is to foster the spiritual growth and development of individuals using the holistic approach, to include worship, education, outreach, and fellowship, with the ultimate goal of advancing God’s kingdom.

Deacons Care Ministry

The Mission of the Deacons Care Ministry of Silas First Baptist Church is to glorify God and edify His Kingdom by addressing and striving to meet the spiritual and corporal needs of not only the members of Silas First Baptist Church but also striving to meet the needs of other members of the Kingdom and our community.

The Men’s Ministry of Silas First Baptist Church

Mission Statement

The mission of the Men’s Ministry of the Silas First Baptist Church is to glorify the Lord and edify His kingdom by developing and maintaining a Ministry which will address the spiritual, mental and emotional needs of the Men in the Church and community.

In an effort to address the identified needs, the Men’s Min. has sponsored activities such as:

Periodic teaching sessions
Retreats
Mentoring Sessions with our youth
Couples’ getaways
Church picnic
Men’s Conferences
Gospel concerts

Our goal is to continue to leave an imprint on the lives of the Men of Silas by encouraging participation and growth in addressing our particular needs.

Missionary Ministry

With love and obedience to God and by the power of His Spirit, our mission is to:

Introduce

people to Jesus for the first time or to restore them in their faith relationship with Him.

Discipleship

by encouraging believers in their faith, and providing opportunities for their love of God and humankind to grow.

Establish

a firm understanding of Jesus Christ’s teachings and willingly share the good news.

Advance

by demonstrating Christian love through acts of feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, caring for those in need, all while changing this world for Him.

Music Ministry

Our choir’s honor God through the lifting of their voices in song. Choir rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings.

New Members' Ministry

Our New Member’s Ministry provides information and support to new members in accordance with the mission and vision of Silas and the Pastor. The goal of the ministry is to ensure that new members “connect” with our ministries and begin the process of spiritual maturation.

Seniors Ministry

The Seniors Ministry of the Silas First Baptist Church of Severna Park shall be comprised of Silas membership 55 years of age and older. The mission of this Ministry is to provide a welcoming environment for older adults to connect with each other as they bond more tightly to strengthen relationships, enhance their quality of life through meaningful social, physical, spiritual, cultural, and educational opportunities and resources, as they ultimately deepen their spirituality through activities in tandem with biblical standards.

Ushers Ministry

“I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10

The Ministry of Church Ushering is a sacred and powerful responsibility.

Ushers are servants for the Lord and His people.

The Ushers make sure that all members and guests are greeted warmly, finding them a comfortable seat, and doing whatever it takes to put them in the right frame of mind for worship. They greet our guests and members with a smile and love in their hearts.

Ushers always keep a silent prayer and a joyful song in their hearts and a smile on their face. They serve with tact and with courtesy.

The Ushers always guard the house of God during the worship service.

This ministry is not for everyone. You must be able to stand, to wear the proper uniform, be humble and flexible.

There is a school that one can attend, so that all Ushers can usher in the same way. They keep on smiling, no matter what.

Women's Ministry

The Women’s Ministry of the Silas First Baptist Church have a primary emphasis on meeting the spiritual, social, physical and mental needs of women of all ages. The Ministry utilizes a holistic approach with the Word of God as its foundation in addressing these needs. Women will discover how the Bible can work in real life situations. The Ministry provides educational experiences through workshops, preaching and teaching as to bring about spiritual maturity and depth among all women of Silas First Baptist Church.

The Ministry operates as a part of the overall vision of the Silas First Baptist Church under the direction of the Pastor.

Youth & Young Adult Ministry

The Youth and Young Adult Ministry is committed to the God given mission to nurture and train Youth and Young Adults using God’s Word as our text and guide. Our purpose is to invite Youth and Young Adults into a Christ Centered life and collaborate with them to identify specific initiatives for their community. To assist them in developing a holistic, Christ centered, healthy understanding of living a Godly life and developing one’s relationship with God while encouraging them to use their spiritual gifts and talents to the glory of God uplifting their church, their peers, families, and communities.
